近年来，我国检测多种病原体的能力大幅度提高，根据目前数据看，大约有30多种病原体可引起呼吸道感染。其中有十几种较为常见，如流感病毒、呼吸道合胞病毒、腺病毒、鼻病毒、肺炎支原体、新冠病毒等是当下主要流行的病原体。由于气候、温度等因素的影响，冬季呼吸道病原体也表现出地域性特征，南方省份以鼻病毒、流感病毒、副流感病毒等为主，北方省份以肺炎支原体、鼻病毒、腺病毒等为主。
