By October 29 this year, the Miyun Reservoir had a water storage capacity of 3.581 billion cubic meters, creating a historical record for more than 60 years since the establishment of the reservoir.
1999年以来，北京遭遇了持续十多年的干旱，致使北京大量使用地表水且超采地下水，华北最大的水库，密云水库的蓄水量一度降到最低。在南水进京前的2013年，北京重要的地表水源地密云水库，蓄水量只有8亿立方米左右，而到今年的10月29日，密云水库蓄水量达到35.81亿立方米，创造了建库60多年来的历史纪录。
